Owners' Bio
Salvador O. Hernandez
Salvador O. Hernandez began his career on a path that is not unique among successful professionals who know their industry playgrounds - he started from the bottom up. A high energy, fiscally conscious, and goal-driven strategic professional, Sal approaches each new business challenge with his intrinsic flair for innovation, create problem-solving, and measured risk-taking to drive consistent bottom-line improvements and shareholder returns.
His career in strategic sales starts in the early 80's working in International Transportation for NVOCCs, Air and Ocean Freight Forwarders, Custom Brokers, and Intermodal in addition to handling International Trading accounts across the world. It is the year 2000 when he joins Maersk Sea-Land / CSX Lines in the ocean freight containerized cargo industry as an executive in Business Development and Strategy. He areas of responsibilities include the Central and South American markets and leading a staff of three for strategic accounts. Records in volume agreements are established as well as implementation of new products such as e-commerce options and other customized requirements by its global accounts.
By 2002 he is recruited by Walmart's corporate division where he has the opportunity to develop warehousing and supply chain project management skills while working for the number one retailer in the world. Initiatives where ROI and cost reductions are achieved under his six year tenure in the company include; centralization of DSD vendors, augmentation of backhaul programs, category management flow analysis, etc. In late 2008 he is recruited at corporate level by KBR, Inc. He is responsible of standardizing the SKUs catalog, improving procurement processes, setting and leading corporate governance for anti-counterfeit infiltrations and other strategic and operational initiatives associated to the bases closure program in Iraq.
As of today, Salvador resides with his wife in Bentonville, Arkansas and actively working in different regions of the world as well domestically as part of a logistics operation. He is a globetrotter due to his constant travels across different continents and currently developing several verticals for the local market.
Sal's vision & mission for the NWA region as the President of TRACS is to provide an unbiased one stop control tower for existing and new businesses interested in outsourcing the in house expertise required to augment their profits while reducing costs associated to their logistical and supply chain networks. A minority owned logistics and supply chain solutions service provider with over 25 years of experience in the domestic and international market.
Jay Mejia
Jay A. Mejia is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Leon Cannon Logistics (www.leon-cannon.com). Mr. Mejia joined Leon Cannon Trucking in 2005 as a Chief Financial Officer and Board Member of the company. The combination of Mr. Mejia and Mr. Cannon led the company to new frontiers and markets never explored by the company in the past.
Right from the start, Mr. Mejia, had a vision for the company to become the best logistics provider by providing zero-defect, IT driven, logistics services in an efficient and customer focused manner that would result in total customer satisfaction. This vision, reinforced by total dedication and commitment of management, drives every employee of the company to strive to provide the best quality services to their customers.
In 2009 Mr. Cannon decided it was time to pass the reins on and sold the company to Mr. Mejia. Under new corporate management, the company name was changed from Leon Cannon Trucking to Leon Cannon Logistics to better reflect its service offerings.
Leon Cannon Logistics has since grown to provide transportation solutions for some of the largest companies in the world. The company's sound financial management and diverse customer base has allowed it to expand into dedicated services, van, flatbed, refrigerated, LTL, RGN, over dimensional, expedited, air freight and intermodal services (rail, ship, and truck). The good entry strategy and high quality customer service paved the way for the success of Leon Cannon Logistics.
Under Mejia's leadership, the company's international business became a fast-growing part of Leon Cannon Logistics overall operations. Mr. Mejia achieved this by building an international management team that delivered strong operational results in a complex global environment. He has partnered with Salvador Hernandez as acts as Vice President of Operations for Transportation Consulting Services (TRACS), LLC.
Mr. Mejia graduated from John Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He also graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Master of Science in Operations Management with a concentration in Business Administration.
